Craps is a fun casino game that originates from Western Europe but was developed in the United States. In this game of chance, two dice are rolled and you can bet on the outcome of the game. Learning craps is not difficult and, even though, when playing online craps, you can’t celebrate with the team.

Intro to Online Craps Canada

Craps is the oldest dice game, as far as gambling is concerned. In the 12th century, it was known as the English game Hazard. It made its way to America in the 18th century and has since been popular among North American and Canadian gamblers.

The gameplay has evolved through the centuries, and online Craps Canada now offers tons of betting opportunities and one of the best house edges at the casino.

How to play

Best Online Craps Real Money

Craps are played on a gaming table with two dice and a layout of available bets. Gameplay always commences with a shooter who throws the 'come-out roll' (the first dice roll in a round), and three outcomes are possible:

  • Natural – The dice land on a 7 or 11.
  • Craps – The dice land on a 2, 3, or 12.
  • Point – The dice land on a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, and that number becomes the point.
Craps

If the outcome is a point number, the shooter continues rolling the dice. If it lands on the point again, the shooter gets a payout as well as any other players who bet on any number that isn't the point. If it lands on a 7, the shooter craps out, and the round ends.

It's important to note that “the shooter” in Craps is not equivalent to the dealer or croupier in Blackjack or Roulette. The shooter is simply any person rolling the dice, and all players take turns playing this role. However, with single-player online Craps, you're always the shooter.

Types of Craps Bets

Online Craps Canada has the most bets out of any casino table games. The available betting options include:

  • Pass line
  • Don't pass
  • Pass odds
  • Don't pass odds
  • Come
  • Don't come
  • Place bets
  • Buy bets
  • Lay bets
  • Put bets
  • Hardways
  • Big 6 or Big 8
  • You can also find several prop bets such as:
  • Field bet
  • Any craps
  • Hop bet
  • Hard hop bet, etc.

You can read about all available Craps wagers here. The most common types are the pass line/don't pass line and come/don't come. For starters, these are the bets you'll want to stick to:

Pass Line

Here, you're betting on the outcome of the come-out roll being a Natural. Basically, everyone who bets on the pass line wins if the dice land on a 7 or 11. The pass line also wins if the shooter rolls the point number before rolling a 7.

Don't Pass Line

The don't pass line is the opposite of the pass line. So, here you're betting on the dice landing on a 2, 3, or 12. Don't pass also wins if a 7 lands before the point number is rolled again. Note that 12 is a push, so if this is rolled you don't get a payout, but you can keep your bet.

Come Bet

This option is only available once a point number is rolled. It functions like the pass line bet, so you win if the dice land on a 7 or 11. Conversely, you lose if the outcome is a 2, 3, or 12. Any other outcome becomes the come bet point, and you win if it's rolled again before a 7.

Don't Come

Once again, you can bet on don't come after a point is established. You win if the outcome is a 2, 3, or 12 and lose if a 7 or 11 is rolled. Any other outcome is your don't come bet point, and you'll want a 7 to be rolled before the point number lands again.

Variants of Online Craps Canada

The standard Craps rules are based on the Classic Craps (otherwise known as Bank Craps). Like other casino games, online Craps Canada is available in different variants. Each one tweaks the rules a little bit, and you'll find several unique bet options too.

Best Online Craps Real Money

Crapless Craps: This version switches up the gameplay by removing the don't pass bet. There is no losing bet on the first roll, and any number besides 7 becomes the point.

High Point Craps: The name probably stems from the fact that you need to roll a total greater than the point to win. The pass line bet on the come-out roll wins if the outcome is an 11 or 12.

Simplified Craps: The rules are much more straightforward here. If a 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, or 12 is rolled, the pass line wins. You lose if the outcome is a 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9. However, these rules affect the house edge, which spikes to 2.80%.

New York Craps: This version has a different table layout with the come and don't come bets removed. Players get a lower house edge but have to pay a 5% commission on winnings.

Winning Chances

Online Craps Canada isn't hard to win. It's actually one of the most profitable games at the casino. Playing the basic bets offers a small house edge of 1.41% and pays out even money. That translates to some pretty good chances to take home winnings.

There are also certain Craps bets known as odds bets that have zero house edge. Odds bets can be combined with pass and don't pass bets, and taking the odds reduces the house advantage significantly.

Granted, Craps gameplay isn't the easiest to grasp, given the number of betting options. But you should get by just fine sticking to pass or come bets. When you play online Craps for real money in Canada, it's a lot easier, as there's a 'Help' tool that explains the available betting options.

It’s a good idea for new players to try the game for free to get familiar with it before risking real money. Many casinos displayed here let you play online Craps for free and, of course, real money.

Online Craps is very popular among Canadian players, so you'll definitely find this game at all the top gambling sites.

Advanced bets like odds bets have higher payouts. However, they are risky since these outcomes have a lower possibility of being rolled. New players should stick to the pass line and come bets since they're the simplest options.

Craps -The Intimidating Table Game?

Who hasn’t walked past a craps table the first time feeling intimidation and excitement at the same time? Everybody that’s who!

Nevertheless, it doesn’t stop the curious from learning the game as quickly as possible. Novice player or not - it is for the real gambler, wanting real money action.

Learn the ins and outs and that daunting sentiment quickly disappears. It’s not like the Hollywood portrayal of high-roller James Bond types. A dress code of men in white tuxes sipping on martinis and lovely ladies blowing on their dice isn’t reality.

Come as you are…shorts, sandals, beer in hand and a stack of chips

…and the best part is, it applies to online craps or land-based casinos!

Is Craps a Hard Game to Learn?

It might seem overwhelming and confusing at first. But let’s be honest that goes for anything when not well studied. With a bit of research, you’ll beat the house and be bumping elbows with the best of players. After all, it could be you as the next craps champion

Basic 'Must Knows'

Does the roll of the dice have any impact of the game? That is one controversial question with many players having their own theories. Watch each die long enough and decide for yourself!

Rules

  1. 3-4-5X odds are allowed.
  2. To simplify the game, instead of offering both place and buy bets, I offer just one for each number. Each number pays the better odds between place and buy bets. I refer to these as 'buy bets.' They pay 7-6 on the 6 & 8, 7-5 on the 5 & 9, and 39-20 on the 4 & 10.
  3. Lay bets pay true odds, but player must prepay a 5% commission, based on the possible win. This works out to odds of 19-25 on the 6 & 8, 19-31 on the 5 & 9, and 19-41 on the 4 & 10.
  4. If the player selects 'keep bets working,' then all bets will be on for come out rolls. Otherwise, buy, hard ways, and odds on come bets will be turned off.
  5. If the player selects 'leave winnings bets up,' then only wins will be returned and the original wager will be re-bet. However, winning come and don't come bets are always returned. Winnings odds bets on come bets will remain up if there is a new come bet to associate them with. If the new come bet is less than the winning one, the amount of odds on the table will be the same multiple bet on the odds of the winning bet and the rest returned to the player.
  6. Bets may be taken down by shift-clicking.
  7. Put bets and taking down don't pass and don't come bets, that are already on a number, are not allowed.

To slow down the payment stage of the game, hold down the shift and control keys when you click 'roll'.

For fans of my buggy old version one, I still have it. However, I highly recommend playing this current version instead.
